The room I occupied, featuring a queen size and a king size bed with lots of extra floor space, was huge. The reception staff was very accommodating and patient. They exchanged my train station city map for an English tourist map, they helped me orient myself on the map, they issued me another breakfast coupon when the cleaning staff apparently threw mine out, and they helped me print out a couple of attachments from my email account. The hotel is a 15-minute walk to a number of restaurants, including one featuring decent Italian food. Also nearby was a cultural museum.

The heater/air conditioner control box was in Chinese so I had to randomly press buttons hoping for a comfortable in-room temperature. I recommend a diagram with English translations to help those guests illiterate in Chinese. Unfortunately a small cockroach came out to play under the bathroom sink forcing me to move my toothbrush and water glass to the refrigerator.

The proximity to local culture spots, friendliness of staff, staff's willingness to work with us as non-Mandarin speakers.

The breakfast. Blech. Many good coffee / breakfast spots within close walking distance -- go there!
